HIDTA Crime Gun Intel Analyst - Contract

The North Florida HIDTA Crime Gun Intelligence Analyst position is based at the North Florida HIDTA office (8647 Baypine Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, Florida) and the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office (4015 Lewis Speedway, St. Augustine, Florida). This is an independent contractor role requiring the establishment of an LLC, funded by a Federal Grant.

Purpose of Position

The HIDTA Crime Gun Intelligence Analyst conducts research and analysis to support criminal investigations and law enforcement responsibilities, demonstrating tactical, operational, and strategic analyses. The role involves data collection using open-source intelligence (OSINT) and law enforcement databases, and timely dissemination of finished intelligence products.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Valid Florida Driver’s License
• Ability to pass a fingerprint-based background check, polygraph, and drug test
• Ability to pass the background investigation for a SECRET security clearance
• Proficiency with office equipment (telephone, copier, printer, fax, scanner, and computer)
• Effective use of the Microsoft Office Suite
• Proficient verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in research, analyzing, and evaluating intelligence information for criminal investigations
• Experience working with report management systems to develop crime gun intelligence and create intelligence work products
• Experience with databases and software related to law enforcement intelligence gathering
• FDLE analyst certification (or equivalent)
• Experience working with law enforcement agencies

Responsibilities

• Analyzes, evaluates, and correlates police reports and intelligence information from multiple sources
• Provides analytical case support, both long-term and short-term, to HIDTA initiatives and Crime Gun Intelligence projects
• Coordinates with case agents on criminal investigations and ongoing operations
• Liaises with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and personnel at ATF’s National Integrated Ballistic Identification Network (NIBIN) locations
• Analyzes NIBIN data to develop criminal intelligence on firearms-related crimes
• Reviews firearms-specific statistical data to identify and provide actionable intelligence regarding crime guns
• Participates in multi-agency task force investigations, work groups, or committees
• Utilizes online social media platforms and law enforcement databases to gather intelligence
• Creates and distributes intelligence bulletins and reports for law enforcement agencies
• Prepares strategic assessments and single-scope intelligence bulletins
• Assists federal, state, and local agencies during emergency management incidents
• Reviews reports, raw data, documents, and records for useful information
• Prepares maps of linked shooting incidents and firearms recoveries
• Acts as liaison between federal and local agencies to share crime gun intelligence data
• Prepares reports on historical and current criminal activity trends focusing on firearms-related crimes
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Schedule

This position works during normal business hours Monday through Friday but may rarely require work outside normal business hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Regular, in-person attendance is required.

Environmental Conditions

Work is primarily performed indoors. Some travel may be required.
