About the role

Join us as an HGV Technician Apprentice, maintaining and repairing our fleet of waste collection vehicles. Gain hands-on experience in a dynamic environment while contributing to eco-friendly initiatives. Due to continued growth, Biffa is looking for HGV technicians to join our expanding team at our Biffa workshop. As an HGV Technician at Biffa Waste Services, you will be part of the team maintaining our fleet of modern waste collection LGV/HGV vehicles, training to provide maintenance and repairs for waste collection vehicles and equipment, including various makes, models, and types, from car-derived vans to artic units and trailers.

Responsibilities

You will learn how to:

• Service and repair vehicle chassis and cabs to VOSA requirements, as well as MOT preparation and presentation
• Maintain and repair waste handling equipment, including electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
• Diagnose and rectify vehicle faults
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping, both electronically and on paper
• Support H&S issues to maintain the OHSAS18001 standard already achieved

Requirements

• Effective verbal and written communication skills, coupled with strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities
• A valid driving license, Cat B
