Heritage Arts Ceramics Lab Assistant

Part-time, 15 hours weekly. Expected to work Fridays weekly.

About the role

The Lab Assistant’s primary function is to fire kiln loads of pottery, mix glazes, and clean and organize the lab as needed. The Lab Assistant will also sell clay, mix glazes, and provide technical assistance during scheduled hours.

Responsibilities

• Kiln operation, including loading, unloading, and programming kilns
• Mixing of glazes, slips, and stains
• Reclaiming clay in a pug mill
• Clean and organize studio, kiln room, and glaze lab

Requirements

• Basic knowledge of ceramics required
• Competent with hand tools, power tools, and cleaning equipment
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs

Qualifications

Preferred: Master Potters Certificate, Associates in Fine Art, or higher.
