Responsibilities

• Feeds, waters, vaccinates, and performs animal husbandry tasks including basic veterinary procedures.
• Maintains flexibility and assists in moving animals and maintaining efficient animal flows.
• Sanitizes and washes multiple areas on the farm using high pressure equipment.
• Processes piglets, including injecting medications, castrating, docking tails, and ear notching.
• Maintains accurate production information and updates all department records as required.
• Treats sick animals with a variety of pharmaceuticals by injection, oral application, and other methods as required.
• Fulfills Standard Operation Procedures, Production Manuals, or Training Guides as necessary.
• Assists with facility and equipment maintenance, barn cleaning, and laundry duties.
• Complies with animal welfare policies and follows guidelines for euthanasia.
• Works with and around a wide range of antibiotics and tolerates blood, animal dander, manure, dust, odors, and noisy conditions.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or GED.
• Previous livestock handling experience is helpful.
• Strong commitment to teamwork.
• Willingness to shower daily and work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Ability to work an average 48-hour work week, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
• Ability to be on call for emergency situations.
• Respectful, approachable, and team-oriented behavior.
• Ability to work with and around a wide range of antibiotics and tolerate blood, animal dander, manure, dust, odors, and noisy conditions.
