Key Responsibilities
- Oversee or assist with the dairys reproductive program, including heat detection, synchronization protocols, artificial insemination, breeding records, and future use of ultrasound technology.
- Oversee fresh cow management and support maternity and hospital departments through department leads.
- Monitor herd health, ensure treatment and vaccination protocols are followed, and work with the veterinarian, nutritionist, owner, and management team to improve herd performance.
- Supervise employees, reinforce SOPs, provide training, and ensure daily responsibilities are completed.
- Auxiliary responsibilities include assisting with developing and improving protocols, maintaining accurate records, managing pharmaceutical inventory, and helping with minor equipment upkeep as needed.
Qualifications
- Strong dairy production background with experience in reproduction and herd health.
- Experience on large dairies of 1,000 or more cows preferred.
- Knowledge of artificial insemination, heat detection, synchronization programs, and breeding records.
- Ultrasound experience or willingness to learn.
- Employee supervision and leadership experience preferred.
- Ability to follow and enforce established SOPs.
- Experience helping improve protocols and procedures.
- Familiarity with PCDart, TMR Tracker, Tracker Pro, or similar dairy software.
- Dairy Spanish required.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to be hands-on and grow into additional management responsibilities.
Pay
$65,000.00 - $85,000.00
