Hematology Technical Specialist - Regional Lab

Location: Lee Health - 2776 Cleveland Ave, Fort Myers, FL 33901 | Department: Lab - General | Work Type: Full Time | Shift: Shift 1

Responsibilities

• Oversee the technical and regulatory functions related to Hematology testing at the Regional Laboratory.
• Coordinate activities of the technical staff in the Hematology department and allocate available resources to ensure efficient and effective operations.
• Work closely with the Clinical Laboratory Manager and laboratory leadership team in the development and implementation of policies and procedures for Hematology testing.
• Develop and coordinate training programs and ensure competence of staff.
• Develop and implement quality control programs to ensure reliability of testing procedures, proper function of equipment, and compliance with applicable state and federal regulations.
• Monitor quality control and quality indicators.
• Act as a technical resource for laboratory and nursing staff for Hematology testing.
• Identify opportunities for performance improvement and cost containment.
• Perform clinical laboratory testing for all patient types in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner.
• Promote excellent customer service and interact courteously with providers, nurses, and other customers as a representative of the laboratory.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in medical technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Biology, or related science.
• Minimum of two years' bench experience in Hematology in a clinical laboratory setting.
• Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Technologist (MT) certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), or equivalent from the American Medical Technologists (AMT).
• State of Florida Department of Health, Clinical Laboratory Supervisor license.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; demonstrates and promotes teamwork, cooperation, and excellent customer service.
• Strong analytical skills, good time management skills, and ability to solve problems.

Pay

$36.70 - $45.88 per hour
