Helper

Purpose

Aid in the construction, installation, and fabrication of form structures such as wood, patent form systems, or a combination thereof.

Essential Skills

• Identify safety equipment
• Read a ruler
• Identify and properly use hand tools
• Clean and oil patented forms
• Drive nails
• Strip forms
• Use sledgehammer and stripping bar
• Perform basic math
• Recognize and identify unsafe conditions
• Operate power tools (if Level II)
• Make measurements using a tape to an 1/16" tolerance
• Identify nail types and sizes
• Identify lumber by grade and size
• Use handsaw
• Identify patented form sizes and hardware and their purposes
• Identify and use form hardware to erect forms
• Set up, use, and store oxy/acetylene torch cutting rig
• Use hand signals to guide/direct equipment operators
• Operate portable generators
• Erect tube and safety scaffolds

Physical Requirements

• Stand or walk for long periods of time
• Use arms and hands to reach for, handle or manipulate objects
• Lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift items weighing more than 50 pounds with assistance
• Climb up and down ladders, scaffolds and other objects
• Stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl
• See well (naturally or with correction)
• Eyhand coordination
• Good physical fitness
• Good sense of balance
• Work at great heights
• Use appropriate tool requirements (Level III)

Essential Qualifications

• 3+ months of industrial/construction/general labor experience
• Ability to work with others to achieve job goals
• Read, write, and communicate using the English language sufficient to perform job functions (other preferences will be given for special language skills where there is a business need)

Salary

$20 - $24 per hour
