Helper

Responsibilities

• Provide waste or recycling removal services to customers on assigned route(s)
• Empty trash/recycling receptacles (weighing up to 75 pounds each from the ground approximately 300-500 times per day) into truck in a safe and compliant manner
• Enter and exit the truck multiple times per day and/or ride on the back step of a truck to service 600-1000 stops per day
• Replace trash/recycling receptacles neatly at the curb or designated area
• Clean up waste spills and overflows
• Work with multiple drivers depending on workloads
• Operate packing mechanism and various lever/handles on truck to activate lifting/loading mechanism
• Auxiliary with Driver in safely backing up the truck by directing the Driver from outside the truck
• Auxiliary in unloading or cleaning truck as needed
• Professionally interact with internal and external customers
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Must be able to communicate in the English language well enough to understand, and respond to questions, directions, traffic signs, signals, and safety training
• Waste industry experience preferred
• Physical Requirements in a Regular Workday: Frequently lifting/carrying a max of 75 lbs, Continuously pushing/pulling a max of 75 lbs, Rarely lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 100 lbs, Continuously working outside in changing temperatures, wet/humid conditions, Continuously working in areas of dust, odors, mist, gases, and other airborne matter, Frequently stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling, Frequently climbing and/or balancing, Frequently sitting/standing/walking

Qualifications

• Must be legally eligible to work in the United States
• Must successfully complete pre-employment testing
• Must be able to read and speak the English language
