Helper

Directly reports to: Foreman. Location and hours of operation vary per jobsite.

About the role

This is an entry-level position. Electrical helpers are expected to enroll in the Maryland State Apprenticeship program within their first year of employment. The role involves performing a variety of tasks based on the needs of the job site Foreman and beginning to learn the basics needed to start an electrical career.

Responsibilities

• Cleaning and preparing a job site.
• Loading/unloading materials.
• Following directions from the Crew Leader to complete tasks related to the project.
• Following the Crew Leader closely to anticipate the next step and be prepared to complete the task.
• Understanding the task at hand to complete it accurately and efficiently.
• Assisting Crew Leader with any various tasks related to the project.
• Beginning to learn basic electrical language and tasks.
• Beginning to learn to properly and safely operate hand tools.
• Enrolling in the Maryland State Apprenticeship program within 1 year of hire date.

Requirements

• Be legally able to work in the United States.
• Be able to follow directions.
• Be able to give directions.
• Be able to concentrate on tasks and learn repeating tasks.
• Moderate to advanced understanding of tools, material, and fasteners.
• Punctuality and dependability.
• The ability to understand and communicate information.
• Must have reliable transportation to and from any of our job sites.

Qualifications

• No experience necessary.
• Must be willing to enroll in the Maryland State Apprenticeship Program.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to bend and stretch overhead easily.
• Ability to withstand prolonged periods of time in extreme heat or cold.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs or more.
• Good hand-eye coordination and endurance.
• Good mobility (for shoveling, sweeping, etc.).
