About the role

The NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) offers unique research opportunities in the field of Heliophysics Science, specifically focusing on correlative studies in Sun-Earth-Connection physics. Research opportunities include analyzing data from various solar wind-magnetosphere-ionosphere coupling studies and the structure and dynamics of the magnetosphere and magnetospheric substorms.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research in the areas of solar wind-magnetosphere-ionosphere coupling, and the structure and dynamics of the magnetosphere and magnetospheric substorms using data from Wind, Polar, Geotail, ACE, Cluster, FAST, IMAGE, IMP-8, Interball, SAMPEX, and Ulysses missions.
  • Utilize the CDAWeb system and other relevant data access systems to analyze data on various time scales from current and recent SEC missions.
  • Work with the Space Physics Data Facility (SPDF) to manage and support SEC data programs, including the CDAWeb data access system and the Satellite Situation Center and SSCWeb system.
  • Collaborate with advisors and other researchers at Goddard Space Flight Center to advance NASA's missions in space science, Earth science, aeronautics, space operations, exploration systems, and astrobiology.

Requirements

A completed doctoral degree in a relevant field is required. Experience in data analysis, particularly with SEC data, is preferred.

Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates who have demonstrated excellence in their research and have a strong interest in contributing to NASA's mission through innovative research in heliophysics science.

Skills

Strong analytical skills, proficiency in data analysis software, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively are essential.

Benefits

The NPP offers a competitive salary, benefits package, and the opportunity to work at a prestigious NASA center.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $100,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
