Helicopter Air Ambulance Pilot

Mercy Flight Central is seeking experienced helicopter pilots to join our Part 135 operation serving communities throughout Upstate New York. Every flight matters. As a Pilot in Command, you will exercise final authority over the safe operation of the aircraft while working alongside highly skilled flight nurses, paramedics, dispatchers, and maintenance professionals to provide critical care transportation when minutes make the difference.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Pilot in Command under Part 135 operations
  • Conduct safe, legal, and efficient helicopter operations in day, night, and NVG environments
  • Exercise final authority for all flight decisions
  • Perform thorough preflight planning, aircraft inspections, and weather evaluations
  • Maintain compliance with FAA regulations and company operating procedures
  • Collaborate closely with medical crews, communications specialists, and maintenance personnel
  • Complete accurate flight, duty, and maintenance documentation
  • Represent Mercy Flight Central with professionalism, integrity, and sound aeronautical decision-making

Requirements

  • FAA Commercial Rotorcraft-Helicopter Certificate
  • Instrument Helicopter Rating
  • FAA First/Second Class Medical Certificate
  • 2,000 total flight hours (or 1,500 hours with recent, directly applicable experience)
  • 1,200 helicopter flight hours
  • 1,000 hours Rotorcraft PIC
  • 500 turbine helicopter hours
  • 50 hours NVG experience preferred
  • Strong CRM, communication, and decision-making skills

Additional education and emergency management training are preferred.
