About the role
This intern role is designed to expose and challenge students pursuing or interested in a career in social work or a related field. The position will introduce the intern to the three core services for biological, adoptive, foster, and kinship families as referred by the Division of Children and Family Services. The intern will work with families to assess needs and develop service plans that promote family stability. The intern may also be involved in ancillary program group community activities.
Qualifications
- Enrolled in a social work, psychology, or academic program that requires practicum experience.
- Interest in working and learning about families in diverse communities.
Responsibilities
- Works as part of the Heights Suburban Collaborative team to ensure the program meets all identified deliverables.
- Maintains an active caseload, documents data in electronic records, and produces desired outcomes.
- Attends Team Decision Making meetings at DCFS and serves as an advocate for families.
- Participates in regular supervision sessions (minimum one hour per week for every 10 hours of client care delivered).
- Implements wrap-around services by working with management to develop, convene, and manage individual service plans addressing mutually agreed family needs.
- Connects families to services as directed by the family.
- Properly documents work, keeps statistics as mandated by the program, and meets all required program standards.
- Learns and works proficiently to meet data input requirements of the NCIS database system.
- Establishes cooperative relationships with local agencies, businesses, and community organizations.
- Completes all special projects and other duties as assigned.
