About the role

We’re seeking a Private Equity Fund Accountant to join our Fund Accounting team. This role offers hybrid remote work flexibility within Maine, with fully remote opportunities for certain states. Key responsibilities include NAV preparation, event calculations, and financial statement preparation.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and complete daily/monthly/quarterly NAV preparation for Private Equity and hedge funds, including Cash and Portfolio reconciliations, Investment Holdings Valuations, Income and Expense Accruals
  • Prepare calculations and notices for fund events like capital calls, distributions, and subsequent closes
  • Calculate carried interest and manage different waterfall structures
  • Allocate profit and loss to investors and shareholders, including management and performance fees
  • Prepare Private Equity-specific financial statements and adhere to regulatory standards
  • Review and understand private equity fund clients' offering documents, PPMs, commitment documents, and other materials
  • Process and record fund expense payments and ensure accurate cash wire requests
  • Generate and deliver fund and investor reports to fund managers and investors
  • Prepare and deliver supporting materials for board meetings, financial statements, and audits
  • Communicate with internal and external entities on fund accounting matters and assist in issue resolution

Qualifications and Experience

  • Fund accounting experience in Private Equity Funds, Private Equity Administrators, or similar financial institutions
  • Familiarity with Private Equity fund investments and strategies
  • Ability to learn complex concepts quickly
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly advanced Excel skills
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with portfolio and investor accounting systems, especially Advent Geneva World Investor
  • Experience with internal control procedures, operating procedures, workflows, and control checklists
  • Experience with financial reporting, information security, and client, vendor, and risk management

Education Requirements

  • A four-year college degree, preferably in Accounting, Finance, Business Management, or Economics
