About the role
The Role We are seeking an experienced and self-driven Heavy Maintenance Lead Technician to join our team. This role is responsible for leading and executing petroleum system maintenance projects that fall outside of standard service and new construction scopes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and perform heavy maintenance work on petroleum fueling systems at commercial and retail sites
- Execute repairs and replacements including, but not limited to:
- Spill bucket repair and replacement
- STP (Submersible Turbine Pump) repair and replacement
- Containment sump repairs and upgrades
- Drop tube replacements
- Underground and aboveground piping repairs
- Diagnose system issues and develop effective field solutions with minimal guidance
- Mobilize, manage, and complete jobs independently or with small crews
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with company standards, environmental regulations, and safety protocols
- Coincide with project managers, customers, and inspectors as needed
- Maintain accurate documentation including daily reports, photos, and material tracking
- Identify additional repair needs and communicate potential change orders or scope gaps
- Uphold jobsite safety standards, including proper PPE use and hazard recognition
Qualifications
- Minimum [5] years of hands-on experience in petroleum service, maintenance, or construction
- Strong working knowledge of fuel systems, including tanks, piping, and dispensing equipment
- Proven ability to perform heavy maintenance tasks independently from start to finish
- Demonstrated leadership experience in the field (lead technician or foreman level)
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and schematics
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Ability to travel as required
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications related to petroleum equipment or environmental compliance
- Experience with testing, inspections, and regulatory requirements
- OSHA safety training (10/30-hour)
