About the role

The primary function is to assist in completing construction tasks within a project. The job description outlines the required functions and qualifications for Laborers at three different skill levels.

Responsibilities

  • Safety Is First. Follow all safety procedures and wear protective equipment as issued (hard hat, safety glasses, steel toed boots; gloves or mask if required).
  • Use provided tools and equipment with care (no improper use of tools/use other than designed purpose).
  • Clean, protect and inventory tools/equipment.
  • Shovel/use a shovel for significant periods of time.
  • Complete Flagging Class & have valid card on person at all times.
  • Help keep the job site clean, free of debris on ground.
  • Use a tape measure and know/learn basic measurements.
  • Stand, walk, knee, stretch or sit for long periods in a site environment.
  • Lift and carry materials (up to 50 lbs.) around the site and/or up to the level where indicated equipment will then transport the material.
  • Have full range of body movements including use of hands, fingers, able to handle or feel objects such as parts for repair or removal.
  • Communicate adequately in English to communicate with Management and/or in case of emergency.
  • Lay/removing forms.
  • Carry and lay rebar for a concrete pour.
  • Carry and remove wood for forms, staking and other duties.
  • Be flexible with the team to get the work completed in a timely manner, with the best use of materials/resources needed to get the job done right.
  • Inform Site Foreman/Leadman when equipment/materials/tools are needed that you do not have access to, in order to do the job.
  • Avoid unnecessary interruptions to the Operator's work.

  • Must be able to lift and carry materials (up to 50 lbs.) around the site and/or up to the level where indicated equipment will then transport the material.
  • Must have full range of body movements including use of hands, fingers, able to handle or feel objects such as parts for repair or removal.
  • Should be able to speak adequate English to communicate sufficiently with Management and/or in case of emergency.
  • Must be able/willing to help keep the job site clean, free of debris on ground to help maintain a safe and clean work site (clean-up/pick up during & at end of each day).
  • Must be able to use a tape measure and know/learn basic measurements (1’ – 12”, etc.).
  • Must be able to complete Flagging Class & have valid card on person at all times.
  • Must be able to assist other employees as a team when possible.
  • Must always respect the rights and views of all team members while at work.
  • Must provide open and honest communication of problems or ideas to team members and Supervision.
  • All are required to adhere to all the company policies always provided in our Employee Handbook.
  • Employees must do their best to absorb all the training provided to help improve & meet expectations.

Skills

  • Ability to operate smaller equipment such as a skid steer, mini excavator, roller, etc.
  • Ability to perform certain tasks without continuous guidance.

Pay

Compensation is commensurate with experience and skills.

Schedule

Work is usually outside, subject to extremes of temperature and humidity. Please communicate with Site Foreman/Leadman regarding breaks and accommodations for extreme heat/cold.
