Heavy Highway Civil Estimator

About the role

The Heavy Highway Civil Estimator is a full-time, on-site role based in Honesdale, PA.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for heavy highway, utility, and site development projects
• Review plans and specifications, perform quantity takeoffs, and develop pricing for labor, equipment, and materials
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field supervisors to clarify project requirements, assess constructability, and align estimates with production capabilities
• Analyze bid documents, solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes, maintain cost databases
• Prepare competitive bid proposals and budgets
• Participate in bid reviews, track market trends, and support value engineering efforts to optimize project costs while meeting quality and safety standards

Qualifications

• Strong civil construction estimating skills, including quantity takeoffs, cost analysis, and bid proposal preparation
• Proficiency with estimating software and tools, and working knowledge of MS Excel and other office applications
• Solid understanding of heavy highway, utility, and site development construction methods, materials, and equipment
• Ability to read and interpret civil drawings, specifications, and contract documents
• Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with project managers, engineers, and vendors
• Strong analytical, organizational, and time management abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy
• Experience in heavy civil or transportation construction estimating preferred; field experience is a plus
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience
