About the role

The Transportation / Dispatch role at Major Projects Major Projects - Cat Rental is responsible for the day-to-day transportation needs, including managing and controlling the transportation function to ensure efficient, accurate performance. This role serves as the primary liaison between Major Projects, Caterpillar Transport, Local Caterpillar Dealers, Heavy Haulers, and Customers.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor transport activities and communications for all transports.
  • Manage permits / escorts.
  • Communicate with customers to schedule loads.
  • Aid in quoting hauls and reviewing the customer billing, ensuring the billed amount equals the quoted amount.
  • Keep track of all hauls and document all related activities.
  • Know and recognize state licensing and registration laws and insurance requirements.
  • Maintain communication with the shop personnel and know what equipment is available for service.
  • Helps maintain safety and compliance records such as Daily Vehicle Inspections and Annual Inspections.
  • Work safely at all times. Adhere to all applicable safety policies.
  • Comply with all company policies, procedures and standards.
  • Perform other duties assigned by management.
  • Understands and manages DOT requirements.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of dispatching-related experience.
  • Previous experience trucking dispatching preferred.
  • Experience with RentalMan software preferred.
  • Experience interpreting, understanding and using transportation documents.
  • Experience in ordering Oversize/Overweight permits and escorts.
  • Must be able to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write) in English.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Physical Demands: Standing, walking, talking, sitting, using hands, and hearing. Sedentary to medium-sized work may require lifting and/or moving up to 32 pounds.
  • Travel Requirements: 25% travel across North America. Overnight travel may be required.

Skills

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to read, interpret, understand, and use technical and contractual trucking related documents.
  • Understanding and managing DOT requirements.

Schedule

Remote or hybrid schedule with home office as primary base. Frequent travel to customer offices, jobsites, dealer locations, and industry events. Indoor/outdoor environments; noise level ranges from moderate (office) to loud (jobsites).
