Heavy Equipment Operator - Haul Truck / Water Truck / Roller

About the role

Saiia Construction, a MasTec company, seeks experienced Heavy Equipment Operators to join our team in Irondale, Alabama. This position offers steady work, standard high-hour schedules, and opportunities for professional development.

Responsibilities

• Operate excavators to dig holes and trenches and remove and transport earth, gravel, and dump soil, sand, ore, rock, and other materials.
• Operate bulldozers and graders to level and distribute soil, sand, ore, rock, and other materials.
• Drive articulated/dump trucks to transport and dump loose materials like sand, soil, rock, gravel, coal, ore, and other materials.
• Operate scrapers/tractors to move, haul, and grade earth on construction sites.
• Operate water trucks to transport and spray water for construction projects.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of EPA, OSHA, MSHA and other relevant regulations.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Proficiency in using email, smartphones, tablets, and computers to manage company information and documents.
• Ability to draft routine reports and correspondence.
• Maintain acceptable attendance standards per employee handbook.
• Complete work meticulously, thoroughly, and promptly.

Physical Requirements

• Lift/carry 0-10 lbs. occasionally.
• Lift/carry 10-50 lbs. occasionally.
• Reach above occasionally.
• Bend/stoop occasionally.
• Use hands for manipulations continuously.
• Close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
• Hear equipment and facility signals, horns and alarms; radio, and phone communications.
