Heavy Equipment Operator - Fluvanna County, VA
Caton Construction Group, one of the Caton Companies, with corporate offices in Troy, VA, and Cary, NC, is seeking Equipment Operators (Dozer, Excavator) for our roadway construction project in Fluvanna County, Virginia.
About the role
The heavy equipment operator operates a variety of contractor equipment and properly maintains the equipment on a daily basis.
Responsibilities
- Works with and assists in moving and grading dirt, digging ditches and trenches, hoisting material, tools, equipment, and any related work with a bulldozer, backhoe, road grader or front-end loader.
- Performs routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refers defects or repairs to the supervisor.
- Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.
Schedule
This is a full-time position. Normal days and hours of work are Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. with time provided for lunch; hours may vary. Work may be local or out of town, requiring overnight stays. This position frequently requires long hours and weekend work.
Travel
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected. A driver’s license is required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Four years’ experience involving the use of medium and heavy equipment.
- Valid CDL License (preferred).
