Heavy Equipment Operator - Excavator/Dozer (Night Shift)

About the role
We are seeking skilled Heavy Equipment Operators (Excavator & Dozer) for our premier quarry operations in Calera, AL. Shift runs 4:45 PM – 3:00 AM. MSHA certification is preferred but not required—we provide training and certification at no cost.
Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment including excavators, dozers, graders, dump trucks, front-end loaders, compactors, scrapers, and water trucks to move materials to and from designated areas.
- Participate in required training and ensure compliance with all safety rules, procedures, policies, OSHA, and MSHA regulations.
- Excavator Operation:
- Dig holes and trenches, remove and transport earth, gravel, soil, sand, ore, rock, and industrial byproducts.
- Start engine and control hydraulic shovel or attachments using hand and foot levers.
- Dig trenches and holes to specified dimensions, remove loosened material, and load into piles or transport trucks.
- Utilize GPS grade technology as required.
- Bulldozer & Grader Operation:
- Level and distribute soil, sand, ore, rock, gravel, and industrial byproducts.
- Clear trees and rocks in preparation for construction projects.
- Attach and maneuver diverse types of blades and attachments.
- Operate equipment in successive passes to achieve specified grade or elevation.
- Utilize GPS grade technology as required.
Requirements
- Knowledge of EPA, OSHA, MSHA, and other related state and federal regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Proficiency in using email, smartphones, tablets, or computers to manage company information and documents.
- Ability to draft routine reports and correspondence.
- Must maintain acceptable attendance standards as per the employee handbook.
- Approach and complete work in a meticulous, thorough, and timely manner.
