Heavy Equipment Operator (CDL A Preferred)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operates heavy equipment of various sizes and weights used in road, site or highway construction and paving.
  • Properly follows company and OSHA safety procedures. Brings problems to the attention of the foreman, superintendent, or safety director.
  • Follows daily procedures and protocols as set forth in job orientations and trainings.
  • Performs routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refers defects or needed repairs to the supervisor; cleans equipment.
  • Affords assistance in the installation and maintenance of traffic control devices. Controls traffic at worksites by flagging to guide traffic through work areas, as required or assigned.
  • Affords assistance in training lower-level employees performing the maintenance and repair duties as required or assigned.
  • Makes daily pre-trip inspections of assigned truck and other assigned equipment
  • Drives assigned vehicle/equipment to and from job site, as directed
  • Operates equipment properly and in accordance with all manufacturer recommendations and training, in order to complete the necessary task.
  • Manually loads or unloads equipment, materials or supplies
  • Correctly loads and secures all loads
  • Affords assistance in traffic control as directed
  • Affords assistance in maintenance of assigned equipment
  • Responsible for maintaining assigned PPE and having proper PPE on hand for scheduled work.
  • Responsible for providing, maintaining and attending work with hand tools listed on the required tools list provided to employee at hire.
  • Participates in all required safety training including weekly ToolBox Talks.
  • Cleans and organizes warehouse, shop, yard, office and vehicles to maintain a clean, safe work environment
  • Must follow all company policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Any other duties assigned as needed.

  • Able to troubleshoot problems and offer solutions

  • Possess minimum ability to read a tape measure
  • The ability to apply knowledge and skills to achieve intended results
  • Must successfully complete First Aid, CPR, AED and Flagger when assigned by the company
  • Must successfully complete Forklift certification – understand you are not permitted to operate company forklift until certification is received.
  • Must possess a current Driver's License, CDL A preferred
  • Must be a minimum of 21-years-old to operate a company vehicle
  • Able to proficiently operate excavator, skid loader, forklift, telehandler, and bucket truck
  • The physical ability to immediately respond to emergency situations
  • Must be able to successfully complete the pre-employment process including a background check, motor vehicle report (MVR), and a drug screen.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must possess a current Driver's License, CDL A preferred
  • Must be a minimum of 21-years-old to operate a company vehicle
  • Able to proficiently operate excavator, skid loader, forklift, telehandler, and bucket truck
  • The physical ability to immediately respond to emergency situations
