Heavy Equipment Operator

About the role

Heavy Equipment Operators get to create something every day; from grading sites for a new warehouse to installing new and updated drainage infrastructure. The opportunities are quite diverse. Coupling machine efficiency and emphasis on operator comfort of today's equipment with GPS grade control technology, the role of heavy equipment operator is as much fun as it is work. A successful heavy equipment operator monitors workflow, identifying alterations to enhance productivity, is attuned to the subtleties of each job and possesses sound knowledge of when to lead or follow.

Responsibilities

• Observing stipulated safety codes at all times.
• Communicating with co-workers to clarify job specifications.
• Maneuvering motorized heavy equipment to ensure accurate removal and placement of materials.
• Loading and offloading rocks, debris, and other materials from heavy equipment.
• Advising supervisor of needed upgrades, repairs, and replacements.
• Aiding co-workers to ensure that job site is clean and organized at the end of each shift.
• Identifying opportunities to refine workflow and boost efficiency

Requirements

• Prior experience operating a variety of heavy equipment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Excellent vision or the use of prescribed lenses.
• Sharp decision-making skills, especially when under pressure.
• Exceptional manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
• Capacity to provide and follow direction.
• Ability to work extended hours, as required.
