About the role
We are looking for a team of Operators to join our field-based, hands-on construction team in Krum, Texas. The role supports the mechanical scope of utility-scale solar projects, contributing directly to the construction of solar fields.
Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment independently, including:
- Blade
- Dozer
- Loader
- Scraper
- Forklift/Telehandler
- Bobcat/Skidsteer
- Roller
- Backhoe
- Excavator
- Tractor
- Follow prescribed safety regulations and detect machine malfunctions.
- Perform routine equipment maintenance: lubricating, fueling, and cleaning.
- Apply basic mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, division, multiplication).
- Read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance manuals, and load charts.
- Lift and maneuver equipment weighing 50+ pounds.
- Perform repetitive physical actions: stooping, bending, pushing, pulling, and reaching.
- Stand or walk for extended periods.
- Follow precise instructions and receive feedback.
- Provide timely documentation of field decisions and reporting (e.g., Tier Boards, Production Tracking).
- Model behavior in safety, quality, attendance, punctuality, productivity, and teamwork.
- Embody CoVolt Power’s Core Principles and the One Team Approach, emphasizing planning, communication, and collaboration.
Requirements
- GED or equivalent education.
- Minimum 1 year of experience operating heavy equipment.
- Equipment certifications as required.
- Current driver’s license of proper class and necessary endorsements as required by law.
- Experience working on construction projects preferred.
- Strong teamwork skills and ability to work well with colleagues and supervisors.
Skills
- Knowledge of heavy equipment operation and maintenance.
- Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions (rain, snow, heat, cold).
- Tolerance for exposure to loud noises, dust, debris, and other construction-related hazards.
Physical Requirements
- Able to lift 50+ pounds and maneuver equipment into place.
- Able to perform repetitive actions: stooping, bending, pushing, pulling, and reaching.
- Able to stand or walk for extended periods.
