Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain heavy, motorized equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
- Operate and assist with various types of heavy equipment, including front end loaders, graders, excavators, bulldozers, backhoes, and more.
- May perform light maintenance on the equipment as well as other duties as necessary.
- Build, level, and excavate land surfaces using graders and other construction equipment.
- Gather and load dirt and waste products from job sites onto trucks and transport to appropriate locations.
- Must pay attention to deadlines and finish assigned tasks on time with high standards of quality.
- Excellent housekeeping skills.
- Able to work with various measurements which include metric, feet and hundredths.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal communication, and teamwork skills.
- Willing to travel.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of operational characteristics of a variety of heavy, power-driven equipment.
- Maintenance requirements of heavy, power-driven equipment.
- Methods and materials used in general construction and maintenance work.
- Principles and techniques of field maintenance activities.
- Traffic laws, ordinances, and rules involved in heavy equipment operation.
- Occupational hazards and standard safety practices specific to trade.
- Digsafe Environmental Responsibilities (DEP).
Physical/Abilities
- Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities such as heavy lifting and climbing, operating motorized equipment.
- Work around and on heavy construction equipment.
- Maybe exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration on a regular basis.
- Frequently exposed to high, precarious places or outside weather conditions.
- Operator is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, lift above their head, and talk or hear, smell or taste.
- Operator is required to kneel, crouch or stoop, climb ladders, bend at the waist, squat, and crawl in tight or confined spaces to perform the essential functions.
- Operator must regularly lift and /or move up to 75 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Operator may be exposed to high temperatures; cool/cold temperatures; and loud noises.
