Heavy Equipment Operator

About the role

Constructors, Inc. is searching for a Heavy Equipment Operator to operate various heavy equipment involved in construction projects as required to build and maintain highways, roads, and other related infrastructure. Must abide by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely.

Responsibilities

• Safely and efficiently operates and maneuvers heavy equipment including excavators, bulldozers, graders, and pavers.
• Communicates with crew members to ensure actions of equipment are accurate to what is needed and safe to use in area.
• Conducts daily inspections and minor repairs on equipment to ensure usability; notifies appropriate personnel of issues or repairs needed.
• Other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• 1 year experience operating heavy equipment
• or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license
• Previous heavy equipment experience with some manual labor on plant equipment
• Able to work according to seasonal and construction demand schedule; required to work a 12-hour shift, and during busy season the position may be required to work 5 to 6 days a week
• Previous heavy equipment experience concentrating on Grade All, road grater, backhoe, track backhoe, and any other specialty equipment
• Able to frequently lift and/or move up to 60 pounds
• Able to sit in the equipment for extended periods of time and be subject to the bouncing of the seat in the equipment
• Able to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
• Able to write simple correspondence to carry out basic instructions
• Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions

Skills

• Frequent lifting and/or moving up to 60 pounds
• Ability to work in noisy environments
• Ability to work in extreme weather conditions
• Ability to work in confined spaces
