Heavy Equipment Operator

About the Role

A Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe operation of heavy equipment at the landfill to push and compact waste efficiently and safely.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre- and post-operation inspections of equipment in accordance with Company policy to ensure windows, lights, mirrors, and rear-view cameras are clean.
• Safely and efficiently operate equipment such as compactors, excavators, bulldozers, front-end loaders, off-road trucks, and other machinery using proper safety standards.
• Continuously monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable materials.
• Monitor equipment condition to ensure operational readiness and minimize downtime; clean tracks or wheels as needed.
• Complete Equipment Condition Reports and other necessary documentation; report repairs to supervisors.
• Follow all required safety policies and procedures.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Two years of prior experience in heavy equipment operation.
• One year of prior experience working at OSHA-regulated sites.
• Good customer service skills to meet and exceed expectations.
• Professional, courteous, and cooperative demeanor toward customers and coworkers.
• Strong sense of honesty and trustworthiness.
• Effective time management skills to complete responsibilities efficiently and safely.
• Ability to adhere to work schedules and follow through on challenges.
• Commitment to Company policies and safety standards; avoids unnecessary risks.
