About the Role
A Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe operation of heavy equipment at the landfill to push and compact waste efficiently and safely.
Responsibilities
- Perform pre- and post-operation inspections of equipment in accordance with Company policy to ensure windows, lights, mirrors, and rear-view cameras are clean.
- Safely and efficiently operate equipment such as compactors, excavators, bulldozers, front-end loaders, off-road trucks, and other machinery using proper safety standards.
- Continuously monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable materials.
- Monitor equipment condition to ensure operational readiness and minimize downtime; clean tracks or wheels as needed.
- Complete Equipment Condition Reports and other necessary documentation; report repairs to supervisors.
- Follow all required safety policies and procedures.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Two years of prior experience in heavy equipment operation.
- One year of prior experience working at OSHA-regulated sites.
- Good customer service skills to meet and exceed expectations.
- Professional, courteous, and cooperative demeanor toward customers and coworkers.
- Strong sense of honesty and trustworthiness.
- Effective time management skills to complete responsibilities efficiently and safely.
- Ability to adhere to work schedules and follow through on challenges.
- Commitment to Company policies and safety standards; avoids unnecessary risks.
