Heavy Equipment Operator

Responsibilities

• Maneuver hand and/or foot controls to regulate speed and direction of assigned equipment
• Operate equipment in compliance with company safety policies and procedures
• Move, pick up, and grade various types of aggregate material on different terrains
• Load and unload equipment from vehicles and trailers
• Perform regular checks on equipment functionality and report needed repairs
• Clean equipment to maintain its quality and functionality
• Follow equipment monitoring and maintenance requirements
• Other duties as assigned

Essential Requirements

• Ability to understand verbal orders
• Fine grading experience preferred
• Knowledge of heavy equipment operation and safety standards
• Compliance with municipality requirements, specifications, safety standards, and company policies
• Attention to detail and awareness of maintaining a safe work environment
• Ability to work well with others
• Reliable transportation
• Pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check

Salary/Hourly Exemption

• Full-time, non-exempt position
• Salary based on knowledge and experience
• Requires use of personal protection equipment

Working Hours/Expectations

• Able to work more than 40 hours per week, including weekend assignments as required

Physical and Mental Demands

• Regularly stands, walks, reaches, balances, stoops, bends, kneels, or crouches on different terrains
• Frequent bending, twisting, and standing
• Uses hands to finger, handle, or feel
• Lifts and/or moves up to 25 pounds frequently, up to 50 pounds occasionally
• Sits for prolonged periods of time

Education

• High school or equivalent preferred

Licenses, Certifications

• Valid driver’s license preferred
• Minimum of 1 year operating construction equipment experience
