About the role

Operate heavy construction equipment including, but not limited to, backhoes, skid steers, water trucks, dump trucks, transports loaders, and excavators on various field projects. Maintain equipment by checking fluid levels, greasing fittings, and reporting maintenance or safety issues to auto shop personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Lift and carry materials weighing 50 to 100 pounds and occasionally more.
  • Coordinate movements of eyes, hands, and fingers to operate equipment safely.
  • Climb and maintain balance on ladders and scaffolding; stand, walk, kneel, stoop, crouch, bend, crawl, or sit for extended periods.
  • Access multiple levels of height and depth while operating equipment.
  • Understand and comply with OSHA standards, including 1926 Subpart P App A (Soil Classification) and 1926 Subpart P App B (Sloping and Benching).
  • Ensure safe excavation practices in accordance with OSHA standards.
  • Perform daily equipment inspections prior to operation.
  • Complete routine duties as directed by supervisors.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of related experience.
  • Current and valid driver’s license in the state of permanent residence (must be insurable by Jaynes Structures’ automobile insurance carrier).
  • Working knowledge of woodworking and general finishing techniques.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • High degree of attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective communication with co-workers and management.
  • Must pass pre-employment screening, including drug/alcohol test, background check, motor vehicle records check, reference check, and physical (if applicable).
  • Proof of completion of a Jaynes-recognized Hazardous Substances course (or willingness to attend the next available class).

Work Environment

Equipment Operators may work in a variety of environments, including outdoors in extreme weather conditions and high noise levels.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:

  • Frequent lifting and carrying of objects over 20 pounds, often combined with stooping, bending, twisting, crawling, reaching, and working on irregular surfaces or in confined spaces.
  • Strenuous physical work, including prolonged standing, walking, kneeling, and maintaining body balance.

Pay

Hourly pay rate: $26.61 – $30.11.

Schedule

This is a full-time, union position. Travel is required.
