Heavy Equipment Operator

About the Role

All duties are performed in a work-safe manner; plant safety rules are followed and individual works as a team member. Mobile operators are given primary responsibility of performing all plant and quarry tasks that require the use of heavy mobile equipment. The associated equipment of the limestone quarry and the plant equipment are also considered equipment to be operated through mobile operators.

• Understand and comply with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) policies to ensure that environmental, health, and safety are the first priority of the business.
• Actively support key safety initiatives at the facility and assist the department as needed to improve EHS performance and results.
• Work within the limestone quarry and plant mobile equipment teams, with a salaried supervisor coordinating team activities.
• Tasks and equipment utilized change per requirements of plant needs; individuals must possess a variety of task skills.
• Interact with production and maintenance personnel to reduce and eliminate production interruptions.
• Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to health, safety, and environmental policies in all work environments and areas.
• Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

Requirements

• High School Diploma required.
• Must be willing to work holidays, weekends, various shifts, and overtime as directed.
• Must possess basic computer skills.
• Ability to travel through an aggregate plant, including walking over obstacles, climbing stairs and ladders, lifting heavy or awkward parts, and wearing personal protective equipment (hardhat, safety glasses, fall protection, respirators, etc.).
• Exposure to extremely hot/cold, dusty, noisy, or dark situations; work may be performed at great heights or in small confined spaces.
• Basic math, reading, and writing skills required (English).
• Haul trucks, loaders, and various mine equipment experience preferred.
• Willing to work overtime and weekends as needed.
• Knowledge of products and industry terminology.
• Punctual, reliable, and good attendance required.
• Good communication skills – verbal and listening.
• Part 48 MSHA training.
• Previous welding or cutting experience is a plus but not required.
• Local 150 preferred.

Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of approved Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), including but not limited to respirators. Employees required to wear respirators must be clean-shaven where the respirator seal meets the face to pass fit tests.
