Heavy Equipment Operator

About the role

Delivers supplies or large equipment to job site locations and other delivery locations in accordance with an established schedule utilizing a company vehicle along with operates large equipment to support on-site and project needs.

Essential duties and responsibilities

• Drives a company motor vehicle (CMV) 26,001 + pounds to customer businesses and residences to deliver materials or equipment according to established procedures
• Operates large equipment, including earth movers, excavators, and other equipment as needed
• Maintains and services large equipment, including minor equipment repairs as necessary
• Sets core delivery schedule including additional hours and potential schedule changes depending on the time of the year and peak seasons
• Interacts professionally with customers and the general public when delivering products and equipment to customers' site locations
• Supports landscape operations as necessary
• Maintains a clean and safe work site including proper maintenance and care of all company equipment
• Promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices
• Position may perform other duties as assigne

Responsibilities

• During snow season:
• Operate snowplow and salt truck to remove ice and snow from roads and assigned areas, which require early morning starts, extended hours, and weekend duty including holidays.
• Responds in a timely manner (within 30 minutes) when called to assist in snow plowing.
• Ensure that roads under responsibility of this position are adequately and safely plowed when required.
• Shovel snow, grounds maintenance and other duties as assigned related to facilities and roads maintenance

• Ability to interface with all types of mechanical and construction contractors
• Ability to problem solve and exhibit flexibility due to impacted routes and schedules

• Work environment: Outdoor conditions, extended work hours during peak seasons, requires substantial physical activity performing strenuous activities of a productive and technical nature; regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions of extreme heat and extreme cold; consistent exposure to loud noise; potential exposure to air pollution, allergens, dust, pollen, insects, and other potentially harmful naturally occurring hazards; continuous exposure to moving mechanical parts and sharp objects
