About the role
RiverBend Materials, a CRH company, is seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team in Salem, Oregon. This is a dynamic, growth-oriented position where you'll work with a variety of heavy-duty construction equipment.
Responsibilities
- Analyzes malfunctions and repairs, rebuilds, and maintains equipment.
- Operates and inspects machines or equipment to diagnose defects.
- Dismantles and reassembles equipment, using hoists and hand tools.
- Examines parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges.
- Replaces defective engines and subassemblies, such as transmissions.
- Tests overhauled equipment to ensure operating efficiency.
- May direct workers engaged in cleaning parts and assisting with assembly and disassembly of equipment.
- Should have skills in fabrication, record keeping, general cleaning, and lubricating of parts.
- Thorough mechanical knowledge of heavy-duty construction related equipment, including wheel loaders, dozers, and excavators.
- Weld broken parts and structural members and other items as necessary using appropriate welding processes.
- Repairs electrical equipment.
- Experience with diesel trucks and equipment.
- Assist other maintenance department staff in performing the duties necessary to assure the efficiency of operations of vehicles.
- Promptly communicate with supervisors on any flaws in material.
- Take action to avoid potential hazards or obstructions.
- Participate in and promote an inclusive work environment.
Qualifications
- Safety minded professional who demonstrates good performance, attendance and punctuality.
- Must pass pre-employment physical exam and pre-employment controlled substance testing.
- Demonstrates the ability to work overtime and weekends/holidays as needed.
- Demonstrates the ability to conform to and maintain OSHA, MSHA, DOT and all other company or state rules and regulations.
- Demonstrates the ability to work independently, without direct supervision.
- Demonstrates ability to work and communicate well with Supervisors, Truck Drivers, Heavy Equipment Operators and other employees.
- Demonstrates the ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions.
- Demonstrates the willingness to learn and work a variety of job tasks.
- Demonstrates excellent customer service skills.
- Must have good depth perception and coordination to operate machine controls.
- Must have current US Authorization to work or ability to obtain without company assistance prior to start date.
Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
- 5+ years of experience with fleet equipment preferred.
- A valid driver’s license, CDL Class A or B preferred.

Pay
