About the Role
This position will require overtime during planned maintenance outages and during plant outages. It involves installing, troubleshooting, cleaning, inspecting, and maintaining mechanical equipment throughout the facility in a safe and productive manner. This includes preventive maintenance, changing out wear parts, and recording damage or misuse of equipment.
Responsibilities
- Participate in safety programs
- Work to repair and maintain air compressors, dryers, trucks, forklifts and pallet jacks
- Assists with installation of new equipment
- Maintain all job site equipment in a good, clean, orderly condition and report all deficiencies to supervisor
- Maintain and clean equipment, perform required inspections, complete paperwork, and assume accountability
- Dismantle equipment to gain access to and remove defective parts using hoists
- Follow OSHA and HAZMAT rules and regulations
- Takes proactive steps to make improvements to plant equipment and processes
- Follows standard safety procedures, corrects safety and environmental hazards, and reports them to supervision as necessary
- Recommends improvements in maintenance methods, working to reduce cost of replacement/repair whenever possible
- Lubricate & clean parts
- Test and troubleshoot malfunctioning machinery, determine repairs and discuss with Head Mechanic for approval and repair as needed
- Able to operate welder, cutting torch, electrical/power and manual hand tools for repairs
- Able to fix minor electrical problems
Qualifications
- Understand basic electrical and hydraulic schematics
- Properly use tools like electrical meters, hydraulic gauges, and lifting equipment
- Capable of lifting 50 pounds
- Welding/fabrication experience
- Able to work with and around heavy equipment/object
- Able to measure accurately with calipers, feeler gauges, and tape measures
- Able to work 40+ hours per week
- Relevant: 1 year (Preferred)
- Manufacturing environment: 3 years (Preferred)
- Forklift Driving: 3 years (Preferred)
- Repaired Heavy Equipment: Cranes
- Welding: 3 years (Preferred)
- Ability to arc welding and cutting torch experience
- Service Tech: 3 years (Preferred)
- Ability to read simple electrical / mechanical drawings
- Communicates effectively
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Must be able to work in extreme temperatures and be exposed to heat, cold, wind, rain, dust, confined spaces, elevated areas, dirt
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 35 lbs. and up to 100 lbs. occasionally
- Must be able to sit for extended periods
- Must be able to work on feet for extended periods
- Must be capable of using protective equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses/goggles, safety shoes, hearing protection, air masks, respirators, etc. in the performance of job duties
