Heavy Equipment Mechanic
About the role
The Heavy Equipment Mechanic position at Super Products is responsible for diagnosing and repairing truck-mounted vacuum equipment, both in the shop and in the field. The role involves electrical and hydraulic diagnosis, performing scheduled PM inspections, and completing DOT inspections. The position also includes maintaining and organizing shop and storage areas.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems
- Effectively read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics
- Perform all scheduled PM inspections of chassis, vacuum body, hydraulic, electrical, air and water systems
- Conduct all repairs within DOT or OEM standards and service to return rental equipment "Ready to Rent" status
- Document "check in" and "check out" inspections of fleet equipment
- Maintain and organize shop and storage areas, ensuring Super Products standard of excellence is met
- Effectively complete all documentation of work performed
Requirements
- Possess a solid understanding of the function, operation, and maintenance of truck-mounted vacuum equipment
- Must demonstrate a solid understanding of mechanical and hydraulic systems and electrical troubleshooting
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical data, drawings, and schematics
- Ability to administer DOT inspections
- Possess basic / position-related computer skills
- Must be organized and possess the ability to multi-task
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills with the ability to work as part of a team, as well as work alone effectively
- Be self-motivated, shows complete accountability, is timely in all assignments
- Own and supply a basic set of hand tools and storage box
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum three (3) years, verifiable experience as a mechanic
- Experience with electrical and hydraulic diagnosis or truck mounted vacuum equipment
Skills
- Knowledge of truck-mounted vacuum equipment
- Understanding of mechanical and hydraulic systems and electrical troubleshooting
- Ability to read and interpret technical data, drawings, and schematics
- Ability to administer DOT inspections
- Basic / position-related computer skills
- Organizational and multitasking abilities
- Excellent communication skills
- Self-motivation and accountability
- Basic set of hand tools and storage box

Pay
The pay range for this position in California is $28-$34/hour; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills and experience.
