Heavy Equipment Mechanic

About the role

A Heavy Equipment Mechanic is needed to inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain truck-mounted vacuum equipment in both the shop and the field. This position involves traveling to make field service and repair calls and attending required training.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems
• Read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics
• Perform all scheduled PM inspections of chassis, vacuum body, hydraulic, electrical, air and water systems
• Conduct all repairs within DOT or OEM standards and service to return rental equipment “Ready to Rent” status
• Perform and document “check in” and “check out” inspections of fleet equipment
• Maintain and organize shop and storage areas ensuring proper storage of flammable items

Requirements

• Possess solid understanding of the function, operation, and maintenance of truck-mounted vacuum equipment (preferred)
• Show solid understanding of mechanical and hydraulic system and electrical troubleshooting
• Administer DOT inspections
• Possess basic computer skills
• Be organized and possess the ability to multi-task
• Demonstrate excellent communication skills with the ability to work as part of a team
• Be self-motivated, shows complete accountability, is timely in all assignments
• Own and supply a basic set of hand tools and storage box

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum three (3) years, verifiable experience as a mechanic
• Experience of truck mounted vacuum equipment (preferred)

• Strong understanding of mechanical and hydraulic systems and electrical troubleshooting
• Ability to read and interpret technical data, drawings, and schematics
• Basic computer skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Self-motivated and accountable
• Timely in all assignments
