About the role

Boart Longyear is a global leader in drilling services, providing innovative and reliable solutions to the mining and drilling industry. This position involves heavy overtime and travel to jobsites for hitch-work (14 days on, 7 days off), with shop-work and general reporting base out of our Glendale, AZ corporate facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Gain valuable knowledge of Boart Longyear’s fleet of drill rigs and support equipment.
  • Travel to jobsites on 14-day hitches to perform routine maintenance and emergency breakdown repairs.
  • Work in the workshop to train, repair, and overhaul equipment.
  • Perform a variety of duties designed to service, repair, and maintain Boart Longyear’s Fleet of drill rigs and support equipment.
  • Diagnose hydraulic problems in equipment and perform quick turnaround repairs.
  • Work safely and remain in a standing position for extended periods of time.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisor, driller, and safety personnel.
  • Work well with others and have a positive attitude.
  • Be willing to travel for 14-day shifts (with 7 days off) and work long days in adverse weather conditions.
  • Be able to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and work minimum 50+ hours per week with scheduled overtime.
  • Pass a drug screen and background check.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of mechanic experience required, with established previous job tenure preferred.
  • Experience with electrical and hydraulic schematics required.
  • Some welding and fabrication experience recommended.
  • Hydraulic experience, pumps manifolds, cylinder repairs recommended.
  • Basic diesel engine and fuel system diagnostic experience.
  • Electrical experience or certification is a plus.
  • Knowledge of high-pressure air systems, i.e. screw compressors and boosters is a plus.
  • Knowledge of duplex and triplex mud pumps is a plus.
  • Able to work minimum 50 + hrs per week with scheduled overtime.
  • Able to lift 50 pounds frequently.
  • Valid driver’s license and able to attain a CDL.
  • Able to be MSHA/OSHA certified.
