About the role
The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) State Equipment Fleet is seeking a Heavy Duty Mechanic, Automotive, Advanced Journey/Lead to assist in maintaining and repairing heavy and light duty equipment and vehicles.
Responsibilities
- Maintain all heavy-duty and light duty equipment and vehicles associated with construction and maintenance of secondary roads, rural airports, and other user agency vehicles.
- Resolve unusual or complex equipment problems through various techniques and methods.
- Perform routine and specialized repair and maintenance on a variety of heavy equipment, including:
- Transmissions, drive trains, suspension, engine and emission systems,
- Fuel injection, hydraulic systems, and brake systems (including air and electrical).
Requirements
Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is required. Must be able to diagnose, maintain, repair, and modify various systems on heavy equipment.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Flexibility to adapt to new information and change.
- Knowledge of motor vehicle engines, parts, and systems, including their design, uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Self-management skills, setting goals, and working independently.
Skills
Strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work in remote locations.
