About the role

The Manufacturing Technician position within the Vocational segment of Oshkosh Corporation involves installing, troubleshooting, and operating special systems on McNeilus Volterra Electric Refuse Collection Vehicles. This role requires leading and training operations assembly teams in the proper use of these systems during the build process and final inspections.

Responsibilities

  • Install, troubleshoot, and operate special systems on McNeilus Volterra Electric Refuse Collection Vehicles
  • Lead and train operations assembly teams in the proper use of any of these systems during the build process and final inspections
  • Develop effective communications and maintain a positive working relationship with all team members and customers
  • Provide design and process feedback during projects
  • Aid in the development of long-term manufacturing build processes
  • Provide training and demonstrations
  • Perform first-time installation of detail parts
  • Conduct functional testing of all systems
  • Modify bodywork layouts
  • Follow build schedules independently
  • Maintain safety awareness around high voltage and high-pressure systems
  • Operate scissor lifts, boom lifts, and forklifts
  • Conduct coolant line pressure testing
  • Diagnose and rework high-voltage systems

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Five or more years of mechanical experience in automotive or machinery applications
  • Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting experience

Qualifications

  • Ten or more years of mechanical experience
  • Experience with basic hand tools
  • Knowledge of JD Edwards
  • Electrical system programming knowledge
  • Microsoft Office experience
  • Hydraulic system knowledge
  • Experience viewing 3D models
  • Welding and fabrication experience
  • Ability to read engineering drawings
  • Strong electrical aptitude
  • Troubleshooting 12/24-volt systems
  • Written troubleshooting documentation skills

Summary: Monday – Thursday: four 10-hour days, 6:00am–4:30pm
