Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Safely and competently operate assigned vehicle with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) over 26,000 lbs.
- Pre and post trip inspections in accordance with DOT regulations, notifying management of maintenance needs.
- Read and follow directions to deliver materials or equipment on schedule to locations given by dispatch and rest at appropriate times.
- Maintain detailed driving and delivery logs and notify management of any delivery issues.
- Accurately track and report working hours on daily time cards with appropriate cost codes.
- Maintain a clean vehicle inside and out.
- Notify management of any major maintenance or delivery issues encountered asap.
- Daily maintenance of equipment.
- Maintain proper information in truck cab.
- Comply with FMCSA, OSHA, and DOT regulations.
- Recognize surroundings and practice traffic awareness to maintain a safe environment and obey all applicable traffic laws and drive according to the weather/road conditions.
Required Skills and Experience
- Valid CDL Class A required.
- 3+ years of proven experience in commercial truck driving preferred.
- Tanker endorsement preferred.
- Skilled at driving forward and reverse.
- Clean driving record.
- Must pass a background check and substance abuse test.
- Cannot have refused to submit to a DOT drug/alcohol test in the last 10 years.
- If failed a drug/alcohol test in the last 10 years must have completed a substance abuse program and provide proof.
- No DUI/DWI or any drug/alcohol related offense in a commercial or personal vehicle in the last 7 years.
- Proficient using GPS and other routing systems.
- Map reading and route planning experience and can follow directions.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
- This is a full-time position. Shift and hours of work are scheduled each week based on work load demands. Overnight travel may be required from time to time.
