Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and engine issues on a wide variety of heavy duty trucks, trailers, and proficient on Caterpillar equipment.
- Service newer trucks with modern emissions systems (EGR, DEF, SCR, etc.) including troubleshooting and repairs on diesel engines and related components.
- Diagnose and repair complex electrical issues, including trouble shooting wire, sensors, engine control modules and other truck electronics.
- Proficient in repairing diesel engines, transmissions, differentials, fuel systems, turbochargers, brakes, hydraulics systems and exhaust systems.
- Inspect, diagnose and repair suspensions systems, braking systems and related components to ensure safety and performance.
- Inspect and repair trailers, including brake and air systems, lighting, tires and axles.
- Perform routine maintenance to ensure vehicles remain in peak operating conditions, performance and longevity.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections and maintenance activities to remain compliant with company and regulatory standards.
- Work closely with Equipment Manager, Project Managers, drivers and other mechanics to ensure timely and efficient repairs.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies while promoting a culture of safety among team members.
- Any additional task or projects assigned by their supervisor.
Requirements
- 5 years experience as a heavy diesel mechanic and trailer mechanic.
- Proficient in diagnosing and repairing emissions systems.
- Proficient in diagnosing and repairing electrical systems engine control systems and complex mechanical problems.
- Proficient in reading and understanding technical documents, diagrams and service manuals.
- Comfortable using advanced diagnostic tools and software for troubleshooting truck electronics and emissions systems.
- Displays strong problem solving skills.
- Willing to work extended hours.
- Knowledge of HCSS systems or other proprietary software.
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
- Formal diesel mechanic training or related field is preferred.
- ASE certifications a plus.
- Valid Drivers License preferably a CDL A.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and perform physically demanding task.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
