Position Summary

The Equipment Superintendent is responsible for the onsite management of Zachry Construction Corporation’s equipment fleet on assigned projects. This role requires a highly ethical, resourceful, and problem-solving leader who can effectively manage equipment operations, personnel, and vendors while supporting project schedules.

This position requires flexibility to relocate and work nights and weekends as needed.

What You’ll Do

  • Ensure a safe work environment and enforce all safety policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Lead and participate in weekly safety meetings
  • Ensure all maintenance and repairs are completed with high quality and follow-up verification
  • Maintain equipment in safe working condition at the lowest possible cost
  • Manage vendors and purchasing decisions with sound judgment and cost control practices
  • Maintain accurate maintenance backlog, including work descriptions and labor estimates
  • Oversee lubrication schedules, fuel records, hour meter tracking, and oil analysis programs
  • Monitor oil analysis results and take corrective action as needed
  • Participate in jobsite scheduling meetings and align equipment availability with project needs
  • Plan maintenance and repairs to minimize disruption to operations
  • Train maintenance staff and operators on safe, efficient, and proper equipment usage
  • Recommend and support specialized training for personnel
  • Ensure all maintenance, fuel, and inspection records are accurately documented in SAP
  • Maintain detailed inspection and environmental records
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience maintaining heavy equipment
  • Experience with cranes, barge work and water work, and strong supervisory skills
  • Extensive computer knowledge, including experience with SAP Equipment module
  • Proven ability to manage personnel and equipment operations effectively
  • Strong problem-solving skills and sound decision-making ability
  • Ability to work collaboratively with project teams, vendors, and management
  • Willingness to relocate and work nights and weekends as needed
  • Dependable, self-motivated, and task-oriented
