Qualifications
Pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering or similar
Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Special Skills
Experience with computer software systems such as Microsoft Office preferred
Position: Heavy Civil Shadow
Under the direction of the Heavy Civil team, the Job Shadow participant will observe and learn about Wagman’s estimating, project management, and job administration activities.
This is a safety sensitive position requiring work on construction sites with various safety hazards inherent in heavy construction. This position is subject to drug testing and compliance policies associated with our status as a Federal Contractor.
About the Role
We are currently seeking a Heavy Civil Shadow to join our Wagman Heavy Civil, Inc. team.
Responsibilities
- Participate in a 2-week job shadowing assignment to gain exposure to Wagman Heavy Civil’s operations, projects, and culture
- Observe and support estimating and project management functions, including project planning, budgeting, and scheduling processes
- Gain insight into job administration activities such as documentation, reporting, and coordination across teams
- Attend meetings, site visits, and internal discussions to understand project lifecycle from preconstruction through execution
- Interact with field and office teams to learn about roles, responsibilities, and collaboration in heavy civil construction
- Complete assigned observations, notes, or reflections to reinforce learning and overall experience
Requirements
Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds from ground level to waist level.
Must be able to bend, squat, and kneel occasionally throughout a scheduled work shift.
Must be able to climb ladders.
Continuous standing and walking required throughout a scheduled work shift.
Must be able to perform simple grasping and fine manipulation tasks with both hands.
Must be able to work outdoors in wet, muddy, cold, hot and humid weather.
Acceptable corrected vision (in both eyes) and acceptable corrected hearing required.
