Responsibilities
- Prepare furnace loads in accordance with detailed furnace load map
- Prepare and assemble load thermocouples
- Load forgings into heat treat furnace and remove from furnace after required heating using a combination of manipulators and forklifts
- Move completed furnace load to appropriate cooling station
- Set furnace temperature controls to suit type of material and process
- Monitor furnace operation and performance as required
- Process forgings through quench and cool operations
- Work from specifications, charts, detailed work instructions, etc.
- Generate and update required reports to document process parameters
- Operate Brinell/Rockwell hardness testing equipment to determine the hardness of forgings after heat treatment
- Create move tickets after heat treatment processing is complete
Requirements
- 1 year of experience in a transferrable industry with transferrable skills
- Basic reading, math, and measurement comprehension
- The ability to read instructions and perform simple measurements is critical
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent, Vo-Tech Certificate or associate degree in electrical, mechanical or another related curriculum
- Experience with AMS 2750 pyrometry standard
- Experience with hardness testing
Skills
- Knowledge of heat-treating practices and procedures
- Knowledge/use of industrial heavy equipment
- Familiarity with industrial furnaces and components
