Heat Transfer Associate Engineer

Florida Turbine Technologies (FTT), located in Jupiter, Florida, is a leading turbomachinery and jet engine aerospace engineering company specializing in rocket turbopumps, aircraft engines, and high-performance jet engines for cruise missiles and unmanned aerial systems (UAS). This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act) due to access to export-controlled technology.
Responsibilities
- Uses computer-aided design and analysis tools to perform complex engineering tasks.
- Optimizes rotor thrust balance systems.
- Conducts feasibility studies and testing on new or modified assemblies and components.
- Determines cooling designs for electronic, combustor, and turbine components.
- Evaluates and optimizes secondary flow and leakages.
- Documents changes through a formal engineering change notification process.
- Applies company policies and procedures to resolve routine issues.
- Works on problems of limited scope and builds stable working relationships internally.
- Maintains sensitive and confidential information as required by company and government requirements.
- Communicates and interacts effectively with peers, supervisors, and the public.
- Performs other job duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Proficiency in fundamental heat transfer and fluid dynamic analyses (“hand-calculations”) and a good understanding of practical design limitations.
- Awareness of turbomachinery cycle performance drivers and trade factors.
- Experience in computational simulations including conjugate CFD modeling, finite element modeling, and correlation with experimental testing is desirable.
- Experience with Python, Fortran, or other programming skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills: experience integrating work in a team and interfacing with customers.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to maintain knowledge, skills, and abilities as they pertain to the job.
Qualifications
BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 2+ years of applied industry experience in fluid or thermal design and analysis, OR a Master’s in a related field. Gas turbomachinery experience is preferred.
