Position Overview
Salary range: Total Negotiated Salary (TNS) calculation depending on specialty can range from $443,329 - $488,827. The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and/or step at appointment. This position includes membership in the health science compensation plan, which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.

Position Description
The University of California, Irvine, Department of Medicine, Mary & Steve Wen Cardiovascular Division, is seeking qualified candidates for a medical director of heart transplantation in the Health Sciences Clinical series. The medical director will lead efforts to develop the transplant program and will be responsible for its ongoing growth as well as oversight of the multidisciplinary team. Successful applicants will be encouraged to interact with a wide range of clinical programs at UCI. The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include a mix of inpatient care in the heart transplant/mechanical circulatory support service and the cardiac care unit at our Orange medical center. Outpatient care will include heart transplant clinics, left ventricular assist device clinics, heart failure clinics, and outreach clinics within our community practice sites. Responsibilities will also include teaching fellows, residents, and medical students. Contributing to scholarly activities is also encouraged.
Qualifications
- Basic qualifications (required at time of application): MD/DO or equivalent degree
Board Certified in Cardiology
Board Certified in Advanced Heart Failure & Transplant Cardiology
Eligible for CA medical licensure
