Overview

The Stony Brook Medicine Healthy Libraries Program (HeLP) seeks one library science student to join an interprofessional team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide health information and social support resources in public libraries throughout Suffolk County.
  • Interact with patrons and participate in public library culture.
  • Collaborate with other students, including those from Nursing, Public Health, Social Work, and Physician Assistant disciplines.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Masters in Library Science program.
  • Desire to gain practical hands-on experience in a public library setting.
  • Interest in working with other students, patrons, and library staff.
  • Reliable transportation to public libraries throughout Suffolk County.

Benefits

  • Unpaid position requiring no more than 10 hours per week for the Spring 2026 semester.

Pay

This is a part-time, unpaid position.

Schedule

The Healthy Libraries Program runs in the Spring and Fall semesters.
