Healthcare Support Specialist RN, Clinical

About the Role

The Healthcare Support Specialist, Clinical Services, is responsible for implementing and facilitating nursing service delivery strategies approved by the Assistant Executive Director, Clinical Services. The incumbent collaborates with administration, utilizes, and facilitates resources efficiently and economically to enable each service recipient to attain or maintain the highest practical physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being.

Collaborate with other departments, medical professionals, consultants, and organizations, including government agencies and advocacy groups, to develop, support, and coordinate service recipients’ care, related administrative functions, and to represent the interests of the agency. This role is responsible and accountable for all assigned clinical aspects delivered across agency programs.

The incumbent will provide nursing services to service recipients, develop and implement preventive health services for individuals with developmental disabilities, maintain ongoing monitoring and documentation of residents’ health needs, identify emerging health needs, and provide appropriate guidance and interventions.

Responsibilities

• Implement and facilitate nursing service delivery strategies.
• Collaborate with administration and external stakeholders to coordinate care and represent agency interests.
• Provide nursing services and preventive health programs for individuals with developmental disabilities.
• Maintain ongoing monitoring and documentation of residents’ health needs.
• Identify emerging health needs and provide appropriate interventions.
• Ensure compliance with DDD, CMS, CARF, Adult Day Habilitation Certification standards, and other external regulations.
• Operate manual devices such as hydraulic lifts, wheelchair lifts, and vehicle doors for transporting service recipients.
• Apply Agency Training Crisis Management Verbal and Physical Techniques during crises as trained and in accordance with agency policies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing required; Master’s degree preferred.
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license and American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) certification for New Jersey required.
• Developmental Disabilities Nurse (CDDN) certification required after hire.
• Two or more years of experience working in a long-term care setting with clinical experience serving individuals with developmental disabilities.
• Thorough knowledge of DDD, CMS, CARF, Adult Day Habilitation Certification standards, and other external regulations.
• Strong planning and communication skills.
• Flexibility and sense of humor to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Valid New Jersey driver’s license (not to exceed 5 points) and ability to meet agency insurability requirements.
• Ability to pass State/Federal Criminal Background checks and Central Registry checks.
• Ability to lift up to 35 pounds, kneel, bend, reach, and perform physical duties such as transporting service recipients.
• Agility with wrist and finger dexterity for accessing, keying, and sorting electronic information or filing documents.
• Ability to drive a 6-person passenger van.

Physical and Cognitive Demands

The physical demands for this position include:

• Maintaining a stationary position (standing and sitting) for extended periods.
• Moving/traversing, kneeling, bending, and reaching with hands and arms.
• Carrying and lifting up to 35 pounds.
• Squatting and operating manual devices such as hydraulic lifts and wheelchair lifts.
• Driving a 6-person passenger van.
• Viewing computer/electronic devices for extended periods.
• Applying Agency Training Crisis Management Verbal and Physical Techniques during a crisis.
