The Arc of Union County Inc. is a leading provider of Person-Centered services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities through Adult Day and Residential Services.
About the role
Reporting to the Director, Healthcare Supports Clinical or designate, the HealthCare Medical Secretary, Clinical (LPN) supports healthcare staff in coordinating and processing individuals’ health-related needs. Medication processing is a critical safety component directly linked to the health and safety of service recipients. This role manages medication processing and delivery at the main administrative building, with materials distributed to specific programs as directed.
Responsibilities
- Process prescriptions with the assigned Pharmacy.
- Receive, sort, and cross-reference medications with the MAR in Therap System.
- Follow up with the Pharmacy and communicate with Healthcare Support Professionals and others as appropriate.
- Order medical supplies and assistive devices.
- Maintain and file medical records.
- Record data relative to individuals’ health and medical issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Associate degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
- LPN license (Licensed Practical Nurse) required.
- Three or more years of experience managing a group home.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and strong familiarity with drug names and their usage.
- Pharmacy technician or healthcare background preferred.
- Strong organization, communication, and computer skills.
- Thorough understanding of DDD requirements and licensing regulations.
- Ability to thrive in an ever-changing, fast-paced, and demanding environment.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Valid New Jersey driver’s license and abstract (not to exceed 5 points), with ability to meet agency insurability requirements.
- Must complete State/Federal Criminal Background checks and Central Registry checks.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to stand, sit, move, kneel, bend, reach, twist, carry up to 35 pounds, squat, and drive a 6-person passenger van.
- May require operating manual devices such as hydraulic lifts, wheelchair lifts, and vehicle doors for transporting service recipients.
- Requires wrist and finger dexterity for accessing, keying, and sorting electronic information or filing documents.
- Ability to view computer and/or electronic devices for extended periods.
- Ability to apply Agency Training Crisis Management Verbal and Physical Techniques during a crisis, consistent with agency policies.
