About the role

The Healthcare Billing Coordinator at VMRC is responsible for maintaining and coordinating accounts receivable for various healthcare facilities within the Wellness Center. VMRC is a Christ-centered, nonprofit continuing care retirement community that offers a range of services including independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing, and memory care.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains current resident files, including up-to-date census, responsible party, insurance, and billing information.
  • Ensures that insurance payments are posted daily.
  • Performs benefits checks for potential admissions.
  • Attends family meetings for new admissions to explain insurance billing and the collection process.
  • Reviews delinquent accounts and contacts responsible parties to make arrangements for payment.
  • Provides follow-up as needed.
  • Makes arrangements with the CFO and/or the Controller to discuss delinquent accounts and notes the necessary actions taken.
  • Coordinates Medicare, Medicaid, and other insurance receivables to minimize bad debt and maintain efficient collections.
  • Maintains contact with residents’ family and VMRC Social Services to ensure knowledge of residents’ financial and Medicaid eligibility status.
  • Responds to the CFO and Controller as assigned with accurate and timely work to facilitate financial reporting for the organization.
  • Participates in a wide variety of special projects and compiles a variety of special reports.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent plus business school coursework with 1-2 years of experience in bookkeeping and computer/data entry functions is required (Associate’s degree and at least 1 year of experience with Medicare billing preferred).
  • Must be highly organized, detail-focused, and maintain a high level of accuracy.
  • Must possess the ability to effectively communicate and interact, in a customer service focus, with staff, residents, family members, and vendors.
  • Must have extensive experience with Microsoft Office suite programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Ability to function in a team environment.
  • Strong work ethic and results-focused, as well as the ability to work with limited supervision.

Qualifications

Pay and Schedule

  • Pay Range: $21.52 - $28.60
  • Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM (with supervisor discretion)
