Health Unit Coordinator - PICU - Part-Time - Day Shift

Schedule

• Shift: Day
• Part time, 24 weekly hours (0.6 FTE)

Pay

Expected starting pay range: $17.49 - $20.99 per hour. Starting pay is based on experience, skills, and equity; exceptions may apply for highly qualified candidates. Additional pay (e.g., shift, on-call, or weekend differentials) and benefits may apply. Annual pay may vary based on FTE status.

Responsibilities

• Clerical Duties – Operates and maintains unit information systems, including medical record integrity, forms management, timely response to faxes, printed material, and mail. Ensures accuracy of patient data and timely completion of admissions, discharges, transfers, and short-stay documentation. Demonstrates fiscal responsibility for patient charges, rental equipment, and clerical supply par levels.
• Environmental Management – Ensures the division maintains a safe, accessible, effective, and efficient environment for patients, families, visitors, and employees. Monitors patient location and traffic flow at the front desk and on the unit. Assists with visitor policy compliance, applies armbands for parents/caregivers, and reports maintenance or environmental service needs.
• Systems Management – Identifies system problems and implements resolution strategies. Responds to communication systems and patient alarms with urgency. Reviews and revises staffing information.
• Communication – Demonstrates Cincinnati Children’s CARES behaviors in all interactions, providing extraordinary customer service. Interacts with parents/guardians to obtain non-clinical information. Ensures timeliness, accuracy, availability, and security of information (e.g., HIPAA, Informed Consent, Advanced Directives) in compliance with CCHMC’s mission and regulations. Functions as a resource for clinical personnel on operational issues and coordinates information systems, environmental, admitting, and clerical functions.
