Health Unit Coordinator
Responsibilities
- Performs coordinating functions accurately and efficiently.
- Greet patients and visitors and provide them with direction and information.
- Maintains unit information sources such as care assignments.
- Unit and patient needs are prioritized and implemented according to hospital policies, procedures, and standards.
- Interpersonal communication is courteous, responsive, and timely.
- Processes physician orders accurately and timely.
- Efficiently processes and documents patient admission, transfer, and discharge in EHR.
- Provides clerical support to the unit and hospital.
- Demonstrates a customer service approach in care and interactions with others.
- Participates in quality improvement activities to evaluate and improve systems and processes that support patient care.
- Maintain patient confidentiality.
Qualifications
- Requires a high school diploma.
- A Health Unit Coordinator/Medical Secretary Certificate or Health Unit Coordinator/Medical Secretary two-year degree is preferred.
- At least 1 year work experience in Health Unit Coordinator or Medical Secretary position preferred.
- Strong communication and telephone skills.
- Ability to prioritize and organize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Computer and clerical skills.
- Ability to establish effective relationships with health care team members.
- Strong customer service skills.
Pay
Compensation for this role ranges from X-X per hour depending on education and experience. We are committed to providing competitive and equitable compensation. An individual's pay rate within the posted range is determined by several factors, including skills, experience, education, and market conditions.
